Marjorie Fox

Marjorie Fox teaches the media writing and journalism classes in the Electronic Media Division.  She has been the faculty member behind the division’s television news program, Uptown since it began in the early 1990s.

Professor Fox teaches Introduction to E-Media Writing, News Writing, Survey of Electronic Journalism, Uptown (television news production), and Ethics of Mass Media.  In 2009, she introduced a new course, Writing for the Web.

She enjoys developing web sites, from the organizational and writing ends. She spent much of the summer of 2008 working with UC Web Communications in the development of this new E-Media site.  In 2006 she was project manager for the new web site of Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati.

Before coming to UC, Professor Fox spent twelve years in television news; first as a reporter and anchor for WEEK-TV, Peoria and then as a writer, producer, and executive producer for WMAQ-TV, Chicago.

She has contributed chapters to two books about broadcast journalism, engaged in work-study at CNN, WKRC-TV and WCPO-TV, and written material for interactive exhibits at the Underground Freedom Center.  She is a member of the Community Service Advisory Council for CET (public television in Cincinnati).

Professor Fox joined the E-Media faculty in 1989.  Her bachelor's degree in political science is from Hanover College and her master's is from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University.
