Why I'm Here: Fall 2008
Jessica Dennis, senior
I entered Electronic Media to work in a video and film related career upon graduation. During my freshman year, I questioned my choice of the program and debated transferring to a film school. I decided to give it a trial year, and I’m glad I did. I realized Electronic Media teaches students skills that reach way beyond just technology. Because of its wide range of requirements and electives Electronic Media gives students the opportunity to evolve into well-rounded individuals with a solid knowledge of audio, video, broadcast, and new media. In addition, students are able to learn the business logistics behind the industry increasing their critical thinking and problem solving skills. My education and experience gained through the Electronic Media program will help me to pursue my career as a producer.
Aaron Hecker, freshman
I am here because it is the best program I could find regionally in the field of audio production. The strength of UC and specifically of CCM really appealed to me. When I graduate I hope to work in the recording industry and eventually I want to start my own studio. I think that the education I receive here will help me to be successful in my field, and also prepare me for work in other interesting fields as a backup plan. I am really excited to begin interning in studios and getting hands on experience in the field.

I came to E-Media because it was the only major in any Ohio university that appealed to me. It seemed unique enough to fit me. I feel that E-Media is an important major because of the broad education every student receives due to the large amount of general education credits. In that, every student has a lot of freedom to continue various courses of studies and receive other degrees. I enjoy my course load and look forward to studying in Munich this summer. I came to Electronic Media to better understand working with video and that is exactly what I am doing.
Chris Grannen, senior
I came to CCM at UC to study audio in a professional and flexible setting, and Electronic Media is good for a well-rounded media education. I was originally planning on focusing strictly on audio, but after learning more about the curriculum, I decided to also expand my horizons with the other production disciplines E-Media offers. I'm also working on a business minor while I'm here to be able to develop inspired business relationships with my future colleagues in the industry.
