Why I'm Here: Winter 2009
Shelli Coppoolse, sophomore
Throughout high school I knew I wanted to be somewhat close to home so I researched and applied to Miami, Ohio University, Ohio State and here. After touring the Electronic Media Division, I immediately knew where I belonged; it had everything I was looking for, all within the prestigious College Conservatory of Music. The curriculum sets you apart from others because of the variety of courses offered within the program. As of now my focus is broadcasting, but I plan on taking other E-Media classes to broaden my knowledge. I am extremely happy to here and E-Media will definitely prepare myself for any aspect within this industry post graduation.
Patrick Sepate, senior
I came to Electronic Media because of its broad focus in electronic communication. During high school I was active in Web design and I wanted to pursue a career in Web development. As a high school senior, I enjoyed creatingvideos. After my freshman year in E-Media, I knew where my true passion was---in video production. I have focused my education in that field. I recently interned at Country Music Television, (an MTV Network) in Nashville. The experience was very educational, and fun as I able to see what an actual work environment is like at a nationally televised network. I wish to pursue a career in television, in the area of postproduction after my graduation in the spring.
Abby Kessel, freshman
Whether it is TV news, film, web design, or audio I love that I can learn it all within this one major. The Electronic Media program at CCM really teaches students a wide variety of skills that in my opinion will only lead to success. Although I do not have my heart set on just one particular aspect of the program, I am really excited to experience E-Media and all the great opportunities that are offered. I am hoping to further my education by possibly going overseas and being apart of the summer internship program in Munich, Germany. Whatever path I decide to take, I can’t wait to develop my future career, whatever that may be.
Shane Harrison, junior
I made my way to Electronic Media with little idea of what I wanted to do with my future. I was excited that E-Media offered a variety of classes with hands-on learning, in which you work with professional grade equipment. Furthermore the college’s reputation made me realize this was the place for me. Moreover, I enjoyed the idea of a major that does not require you to have a specific focus until junior or senior year. This enables students to develop a base knowledge of media and production. As a result, I have become very interested in video production and web-design. I even find myself working on these focuses in and out of the classroom. CCM’s E-Media division definitely makes me feel at home.
