Media companies from Berlin to Beirut use it. Now it’s coming to the United States, specifically to the Electronic Media Division.

“It” is a multimedia editorial and production system developed by NorCom. The NCPower Pro is a digital system used by several large media companies in Europe and Asia but has yet to make inroads in the US.

Enter E-Media.

Two E-Media students, Andy Gasper and David Berninger are so familiar with the production system that they worked NorCom’s booth at a conference in San Jose California in September when the product was introduced to the American market.

At the end of October, NorCom will establish a demonstration site in the E-Media Division for NCPower Pro. This will enable the company to showcase the product to interested media executives.

“NC Power Pro will strengthen the Electronic Media Division’s curriculum by introducing leading edge, innovative technology in the area of multimedia content management, so essential in today’s professional production environment,” said Dr. Manfred Wolfram, head of the division.

It will also enable E-Media students to work on the system. In January it will be introduced  in the Uptown, Broadcast News, and Writing for the Web classes. The platform is so wide-ranging it is likely to be used by other classes as well.

Andy and David joined the NorCom team as interns this summer in Germany where they were there as participants in the Division’s Munich Summer Curriculum. They will be actively involved in helping others to use the system once it is in place here.
