E-Media and Cannes
A film edited by E-media graduate Greg Nicholson ’04 will be shown at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival that runs May 13-24.
The film Robot Love From Another World was made for the 48 Hour Film Festival in Cincinnati. After the film won Best of Cincinnati it went on to the Miami International Film Festival. And then that led to Cannes. Greg edited the film for the Cincinnati comedy team Pizza Infinity, comprised of Kendall Burns and Josh Flowers.
Founded in 1946, the Festival de Cannes is one of the world's oldest, most influential, and prestigious film festivals. Since its inception the festival has been positioned itself as a major cultural event around the world.
Cannes is on the French Riviera, not a low-budget destination. Greg said he’d love to go but can’t afford the trip.
Greg isn’t the only E-Media connection to this movie. Senior Maria LeMaster worked the audio boom and as a production assistant on Robot Love from Another World. Maria can’t afford to travel to France for the festivities either.
We’re confident that someday both Maria and Greg will get their day on the red carpet.
Greg makes his living as Director of Media and Technology at Ozone Studios, a video production and multi-media production company in Columbus, Ohio.
Not forgetting his E-media roots, Greg credits the program to his learning process and success. “Tom Haines taught me a lot about Pro Tools and audio and I use those skills almost every day. John Owens taught me a lot about business and how to be a leader in a group of people, who are all trying to manage different aspects of a company. Richard Cawood taught me about good design and how important it is to communicate”, Greg said.
