Enjoy UC's Top Notch Rec Center

It’s your money…take advantage of it!
The new Campus Recreational Center has been up and running for three years now. E-Media senior Joshua Rose is running over there all the time while he still has his free student membership.
Once Josh graduates he’ll have to pay$220 per year if he wants to continue to workout at the Campus Recreational Center.
“I work out three to four times a week,” says Josh.
Josh isn’t alone because there are, approximately 2,000 visits per day between both the Campus Recreation Centr and the fitness center on the East Campus, says Jim Jamriska,
Assistant Director, Facility Operations.
I use to be intimidated when I walked into a gym and saw all the huge guys maxing out. After I started going to the Recreational Center, I noticed even the strongest guys were friendly and helpful with workout techniques. Working out helps me to relieve stress and build confidence.
All students are welcome as long as they have their student I.D. card. If you have an old card like myself make sure you get a new one. I had to get a new one because my picture was so old they couldn’t see my face.
It’s also worth noting that UC’s Rec Center is green. It achieved a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making it the largest LEED building to date, according to BizJournal.com
When asked what motivates him to workout, Geology student Mike Lees had just one word, “Ladies."
But you don’t have to be a body builder to workout at the Rec Center. There are eight racquetball courts, six gymnasium courts, a 50 meter x 25 yard lap pool, and even a 40 foot climbing wall.
Not to mention all the fun classes that are offered from hip hop dancing to yoga. If you feel like you don’t know what to do just hire one of the many personal trainers who are ready to help you no matter how out of shape you are.
