Bearcast Presents Great Weekend

Sometimes the weather makes it difficult to get out of the house on a chilly weekend night. But Bearcast Radio is here with two great reasons to come out to Baba Budan’s this Friday…”Brews and Bands.”

This is the second time Bearcast is inviting people all over Clifton to come and enjoy drink discounts and great local music. “Brews and Bands” is held on the last Friday of every month at Baba Budan’s café on the corner of West McMillan and Clifton.

“The drink specials were awesome and so were the bands,” says Mike Hamilton who attended the show in January, “There were tons of people there.”

February’s band line up is just as impressive as January’s. The Gaslight Effect will be the first act of the night, followed by the alternative rock band Stick Figures, and the show will end with the garage rock trio The Prohibitionists.

Bearcast will be at the event giving out free promotional items. So, stop by Baba Budan’s on Friday, February 27 at 9 p.m. for great local music, cheap drinks, and free stuff.

But if “Brews and Bands” isn’t enough to fill your weekend, come out to yet another event on Saturday night, sponsored by Bearcast!

In 1998, when many college students were barely entering puberty, indie heroes Neutral Milk Hotel were just releasing their highly acclaimed album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

To celebrate it’s eleventh anniversary, local artist Peter Adams and his band will be playing the entire album from beginning to end.

“If there was a single album that has influenced my music more than any others, it would be In the Aeroplane Over the Sea,” says Peter Adams, “This project is in some ways the culmination of about nine years of me listening and absorbing the album.”

Bearcast Radio is presenting the performance on Saturday, February 28 at Rohs Street Café. Bearcast immediately agreed to help promote this truly unique show.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, play a record from front to back,” says Eli Maiman, a member of Peter Adams’ band. “This album seems really significant and people have emotional connections to it. It’s the first time a show like this seemed to have relevance.”

In addition to Peter Adams’ performance, Matthew Shelton’s Picnic will be starting off the show playing their interpretations of selections from Neutral Milk Hotel’s 1996 release, On Avery Island.

The show starts at 9 p.m. and only costs $5. Don’t be late for this one-of-a-kind performance by some of Cincinnati’s best artists!

You couldn’t have any more reasons to leave the house this weekend, so come out and support Clifton’s local music scene!
